Topaz is a fluorine aluminium silicate that comes in transparent blue, white, yellow or green color. Its name was given by the ancient Greeks but it is believed to have originated in the Arabic word “توباز” (topazos), which means “object of search”. It is believed to soothe energetic people and recharge sluggish ones. It is said to relieve nervous breakdowns, exhaustion and stress. In the Bible it is identified with the second tribe of Israel, Reuben. In the Apocalypse of John it is the ninth stone of the New Jerusalem.
