Turquoise is an opaque, bluish green mineral, a hydrated copper/aluminium phosphate with a high aluminium content. The natural gemstone is rare and has been prized as an ornamental gemstone for thousands of years because of its unique hue. It is considered to bring peace of mind, relieve stress and promote confidence. In Persia in the time of Alexander the Great, turquoise was used on engagement rings, since, according to tradition, it signifies trustworthy relationships.
Quartz is one of the most common minerals, making up almost 12% of the Earth’s crust. It is also known as silicon dioxide and is encountered in sedimentary and volcanic rocks. When found at high temperature during the last phase of its precipitation, quartz crystallizes within only a few months. It is mined in Brazil, Japan, America and Switzerland.
