Angelite or Anhydrite belongs to the sulphate minerals category in the anhydrite group and is a compressed celestine. It is a variety of gypsum that has been dehydrated “anhydrous” resulting in a shrinking of its volume. In the presence of water the anhydrite hydrates and gives gypsum again. It has a hardness of 3,5 and a rhombic crystal system.
