Carnelian (or Sard) is a chalcedony (quartz) variety in yellow-orange color. This gemstone obtains its color from the impurities of oxide and iron hydroxide. It is derived from the Latin word “caro” meaning flesh due to its color. Deposits are nowadays found in India, Sri Lanka, Brazil and Uruguay.
All minerals used for the creation of our kombolois are mostly gemstones used to craft jewelry. Please treat your komboloi with care. Inclusions, cracks and breakage surfaces are a natural phenomenon and should never be associated with wear and tear.
