Lapis Lazuli is an impressive blue opaque gemstone, composed of the following minerals: Lazurite, Calcite and Pyrite. Etymologically, Lapis means “stone” in Latin. The second word comes from the Persian word Lazuar, which again means “stone” in Persian. For the last 6500 year, the best quality Lapis in the world has been extracted from the mines of Afghanistan. It is considered to be the stone of wisdom and emotions. It relieves pain and promotes expressiveness.
