Sunstone belongs to the family of feldspars such as labradorite and moonstone. It is encountered in various colors such as gold, orange, and brown. It is usually translucent and can not be colored. It displays a striking iridescence due to its hematite inclusions. Its hardness is 6 and its specific gravity is 2.65. The most important deposits are located in Canada, the USA, India, Norway and Russia.
