Tiger’s Eye is a translucent variety of quartz with a golden-yellow to brown color. It is characterized by a distinctive iridescence — a moving band of light that resembles the pupil of an eye. These golden and brown lines are due to the fibrous structure of crocidolite, which has been gradually replaced by quartz. This remarkable optical effect is known by the French term chatoyancy, meaning “cat’s eye” in Greek.
Tiger’s Eye mix is a combination of Yellow Tiger’s Eye and Blue Tiger’s Eye (Hawk’s Eye), offering a unique and harmonious blend of warm and cool tones.
It is a natural quartz with a fibrous structure, exhibiting the chatoyancy effect — the shifting, eye-like sheen that moves across the surface.
It usually originates from South Africa or India.
