The name Garnet derives from the Latin word granatum, meaning “pomegranate.”
This name was given due to the resemblance of its crystals to pomegranate seeds, both in shape and in colour.
In antiquity, garnets were also known by the older term anthrakion, a name once used to describe all red-coloured minerals.
Note: The minerals used in the creation of our komboloi are, for the most part, natural stones traditionally selected for jewellery craftsmanship. For this reason, careful use of this particular komboloi is recommended. Inclusions, cracks, and fracture surfaces are natural occurrences and attest to the authenticity of the material.
