Agate is a Quartz silica mineral. It consists of successive layers of chalcedony, each of which has a different color. An incision into agate will reveal thin parallel curved lines of chalcedony. Named after the river in Sicily where it was first found. A very common mineral, encountered in almost every color. Usually opaque. In the Bible, identified with the eighth tribe of Israel, the tribe of Levi. Mined in Brazil, Uruguay, Germany, and Italy.
The use of this komboloi is recommended with discretion and care. Inclusions, natural cracks, and fracture surfaces are natural occurrences and confirm the authenticity of the material.
