Serpentine or ophite is a hydrated magnesium silicate compound with a hardness of 2.5 on the moh scale. Because of its low hardness it has been used by mankind since 3000 BC. It is a volcanic rock, the result of alteration of metamorphic or hydrothermal deposits where it coexists with olivine, pyroxene and amphibole. It is quarried in Italy, England, Scotland and France. It is thought to protect the user from negative thoughts, sadness and anxiety.
Serpentine (Ophite) is a stone traditionally associated with energetic balance and an overall sense of well-being. It is believed to promote relaxation, ease tension, and support inner harmony.
It is also traditionally associated with detoxification and the support of the body’s natural renewal, while being believed to enhance vital energy.
The properties attributed to this stone are based on traditional use and user experience and are not scientifically substantiated therapeutic claims.
Note: Mindful use of this komboloi is recommended. Serpentine may exhibit natural veining, subtle color variations, or minor surface irregularities—features that are intrinsic to the stone and attest to its authenticity.
