Jasper, known in English as jasper, is a semi-precious stone, which can be found in many different colours. It consists of two minerals, Jade and Jadeite. Jasper has been known since ancient times and is an integral part of Asian art. It is an opaque variety of chalcedony, typically found in yellow, red, and brown hues, with its color resulting from various iron oxides. It often features bands or speckled patterns.
The word jasper is of Greek origin, mentioned by Theophrastus and in the Bible. What makes this mineral particularly fascinating are the natural patterns and veins on its surface, sometimes forming striking shapes reminiscent of psychedelic paintings. These patterns are categorized, and researchers have assigned poetic names to the different variations of the stone.

All minerals used for the creation of our kombolois are mostly gemstones used to craft jewelry. Handle this komboloi with care. Inclusions, cracks and breakage surfaces are a natural phenomenon and should never be associated with wear and tear.
